An audience with one of the UK’s finest Sitar Maestros – Clem Alford.
He will draw on his many years of expertise to discuss the power and beauty of Ragas and his approach to presenting them. Suitable for anyone who is curious about Indian classical music and wishes to gain a broad overview, he will demonstrate the unfolding of a Raga and discuss tone, Taal, musicality and the artform.
Clem Alford was born in Glasgow and is known as the “Scottish Pandit” for his knowledge of Indian classical music tradition. He took to the instrument in the 1960s after being inspired by Ravi Shankar and Ali Akbar Khan. He has taught hundreds of people over the years in London at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and at PRSSV where he is a valued resident teacher. He has composed music for films and won several accolades in India and the West.
