Neena Sohal has worked in the arts and heritage sector all her career, following graduation from SOAS, University of London, she he has held senior management level positions in local authorities including the Head of Arts and Culture for the London Borough of Ealing, where she was instrumental in establishing the largest public art gallery in West London at Pitzhanger Manor.
Neena is committed to widening participation in heritage and culture and since becoming a freelance consultant in 2005 has pioneered numerous innovative projects, engaging diverse communities and schools across the South East of England. The most recent include Liberté: Remembering Noor Inayat Khan, for Arts Asia; Benares Baaj Story: A Journey of a Musical Tradition, for the Pandit Ram Sahai Sangit Vidyalaya; and Garuda: Celebrating the Dancing Legend Ram Gopal, for the South Asian Diaspora Arts Archive in collaboration with the V&A. She has a wealth of fundraising experience for the heritage sector and has worked as a consultant for the Heritage Lottery Fund, providing bespoke project advice to community organisations.
She is a trustee of the South Asian Diaspora Arts Archive, collecting and showcasing the very first British Asian Art. Neena is founder Director of the RAH Foundation, working with universities in the UK and abroad to make academic research on modern South Asia accessible to the wider community. Neena is also a member of the Heritage Lottery Fund’s SE England Committee.
