Kathak workshop: a chance to work with one of the leading dancers in India. The workshop will work on Tatkar, Chakra and the execution of Toras and Tukras.
There are 2 levels to choose from:
Intermediate: For anyone who knows the basics of Tatkar and dancing Toras and Tukras and been learning for a few years and would like the chance to focus on improving your technique.
Advanced: A chance to work intensively with a performing artist with extensive knowledge and experience of the different styles of Kathak.
Kakoli Shankar Mishra is a dedicated Kathak exponent, who has mastered Kathak with perfection and grace. She is critically acclaimed and renowned for her sensitivity with Abhinaya or the art of expression in dance. Kakoli received her training under the legendary Kathak maestro Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj of Lucknow Gharana and Smt. Geetanjali Lal of Jaipur Gharana.
Kakoli has had the privilege and honour of performing at various prestigious venues and events such as The Mayor of London’s Arts Festival and in presence of dignitaries, including HM Queen Elizabeth and HRH Prince Charles. Kakoli currently resides, performs and teaches Kathak in India whilst maintaining a connection with students in London as a visiting teacher with PRSSV.
